The most challenging aspect of pain assessment, is treating the appropriate tissue. The RPI allows the therapist to narrow down the sources of referred pain from a huge database of many tissues including myofascial and ligamentous trigger points, joint referred pain and other pain provoking tissues.
Using a graphical representation of the referred symptoms, the therapist and patient can confirm the appropriate source of referred pain, improving efficiency and treatment outcomes.
